K-1 WGP Action Rocks Vilnius With Six Qualifiers


The K-1 World Grand Prix Qualifiers continued to march on throughout Europe as on April 27th K-1, in cooperation with KOK, went to Vilnius, Lithuania to find some of the best fighters that Europe had to offer. There were a total of three Qualifiers at 70kg and three Qualifiers at Heavyweight (over 93kg), which meant six big fights that had massive ramifications for all of the fighters, as only three in each weight class could move on to the next stage in the K-1 World Grand Prix!

Three men move on at 70kg in our MAX division, with Eyevan Danenbergd bringing the fight to Valdemar Kuda, scoring a TKO in the final minute of the final round! Tadas Jonkus looked to make an even bigger impression as he scored a big knockout over Bogdan Stanciu in only 22 seconds to be the second 70kg fighter to qualify! The third qualifier saw Vital Hurkou go to war with Vaidas Valaneius with Hurkou scoring the huge KO victory a minute into the second round.

This brings us to the Heavyweights, where only three men could move on to the next level of the World Grand Prix. There was a sense of urgency in Mantas Rimdeika as he flattened Pavel Beszterda just seconds before the first round ended. In the second 93kg Qualifier Mindaugas Sakalauskas and Michal Turynsky braved it out for all three of the rounds, with Sakalauskas taking a hard-fought decision victory to move on. In the third Qualifier we saw an old K-1 favorite in Brecht Walis show that not only is he not retired, but he is still capable of pushing the pace and bringing the action at 35 years old as he pulled off a decision win over Martynas Knyzelis.

The main event saw a K-1 MAX mainstay, Artur Kyshenko, once again step into the K-1 ring as he competed for the KOK World Title against Denis Makouski. Makouski fought hard, but Kyshenko’s skill and experience proved to be too much for him as he won on downs, taking home the TKO victory.

K-1 World Tour Comes to Ireland


The K-1 World Tour will be coming to Dublin, Ireland on September 7th, in what will be one of the many stops that we see in the K-1 World Tour. True to form, K-1 will establish a Champion on September 7th in Dublin as a 70kg MAX tournament will be held on that night, the winner walking about with a K-1 development contract and be crowned as the K-1 MAX 70kg Champion of Ireland. The event will be held in conjunction with Ireland’s Chris Boyne.

The K-1 World Tour was announced a few weeks ago, with the Dublin event being the first announced event in the series with many more to come. Throughout the K-1 World Tour we will see champions established in every region across multiple weight classes, with the champions given more opportunities within the K-1 organization in the future. More information about the K-1 World Tour in Dublin and other K-1 World Tour events will be released soon.

K-1 World Tour Heads to England in September


K-1, in conjunction with Dan Green and Neil Holden, are proud to announce that one of our next stops in the K-1 World Tour will be in England on September 21st. The event will be held on September 21st at Parr Hall in Warrington, right outside of Manchester. There will be a one night tournament featuring some of the best and brightest from the UK’s 70kg weight class, with the fighters competing for the inaugural K-1 70kg UK Championship as well as a developmental contract with K-1.
