Re: UFC 172: Jones vs Teixeira - Live Results and Event Cove
Six fighters joined UFC president Dana White at the UFC 172 post-fight press conference:
Anthony Johnson, Luke Rockhold, Max Holloway, Jim Miller, Joseph Benavidez, and light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Jones' opponent, Glover Teixeira, was transported to the hospital immediately following the bout.
Takanori Gomi and Isaac Vallie-Flagg took home Fight of the Night for their three-round brawl. Both fighters landed over 100 significant strikes, with Gomi coming out on top for his 35th career victory.
Bantamweight Joseph Benavidez and Ultimate Fighter 18 alum Chris Beal each earned Performance of the Night for their respective wins. Benavidez survived an early flurry against Tim Elliot to pull off the guillotine win. Beal showed off his impressive striking, knocking opponent Patrick Williams out with a flying knee late in the second round.
Each winner will be awarded $50,000. The event marked the biggest sporting event in Baltimore Arena history and the second biggest gate behind The Rolling Stones.
